Museum of Municipal Mass Transport– 130 years of Municipal Mass Transport (MHD) in Prague
On September 23, 1875 for the first time the horse-drawn tram drove to the Prague streets, popularly called “koňka”. That date is celebrated traditionally as the day when regular municipal mass transport started to serve the citizens of Prague. Reminding of its long and varied history is the collection of 120 historic vehicles, models, photographs, historic documents, tickets and plans installed in the tram depot in Prague– Střešovice. The most valuable exhibits include the former summer car of the horse-drawn tram of 1886, the parlour motor coach of 1900 and the opened observation motor coach of 1913, however, its place in the collection has also the modern tram or the set of the metro. The depot itself, also a technical monument of 1909, served the original purpose till 1992, when its adaptation into the museum was started. However, dispatched from one hall till today are the sets of historic trams that drive through Prague during the summer months and represent a welcome tourist attraction.

Lease of historic trams
Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy (the Transport Enterprise of the Capital of Prague) ensures, in the course of the whole year, observation and round drives by historic trams. For groups or on special occasions it is also possible to lease those cars. The route and its length, place of getting on, getting off or possible waiting are determined according to the wish of the customers, even a wedding feast may be ordered or light refreshment and musical accompaniment. A point of interest during the stay in Prague may also be the drive through the night city.
