New Hotel Ve dvoře in Spálené Poříčí

The picturesque small town situated on the brook Bradava under the ledges of the Brdy mountains did suffer from numerous fires in the past, however, despite that an interesting set of monuments has been preserved there. The memorial board on the building of the deanery commemorates that in 1894–1895 the writer Jindřich Šimon Baar lived there, situated in the Renaissance chateau with the tower adapted in the neo-Gothic style is a historic exposition. Spálené Poříčí was owned, from the middle of the 18th century to 1945 by the capitula of St. Vitus in Prague. In the former capitular estate, after extensive reconstruction, the new hotel Ve dvoře originated the ceremonial opening of which is prepared for the summer season of 2006. It offers to the guests 50 beds in one- to two-bed rooms with the possibility of extra beds, in the object there is also a barrier-free room.

The Jewish Way in the area of Plzeň

Intended for all those who are interested in the history and present time of Jewish cultural monuments are four routes the starting point of which is Plzeň. The journey always begins with the seeing of the centre of the town and the monumental Major Synagogue. The first route leads to Rabštejn nad Střelou, the smallest town of central Europe, the second one maps Jewish monuments in the valley of the Berounka river. The third route directs to the south and introduces the romantic Jewish cemeteries of the south of the area of Plzeň, the fourth one brings the visitors to the remnants of preserved ghettoes in Spálené Poříčí and in Kasejovice. The synagogues, mysterious, almost forgotten nooks and typical houses are located also in other places of the area of Plzeň, the trip may be extended, e.g., to Dobrá Voda near Hartmanice. Located close to the church of St. Vintíř is the Museum of Šimon Adler, the memorial of a Jewish historian and rabbi. A part of the exposition is devoted to the Jewish culture and the fate of the Jews in West-Bohemian border-land.
