Františkovy Lázně

The spa originated in 1793 on the basis of the suggestion of the doctor of Cheb, dr. Bernhard Adler, in the place of the ancient curative spring. Preserved from the end of the 18th and first half of the 19th century has been the typical spa architecture – Classicist and Empire buildings, stylish pavilions, parks or church monuments. The centre of the town is represented by the wide promenade street, an interesting set of church monuments is represented, e.g., by the Empire church of the Advancement of the St. Cross or the orthodox church of St. Olga, a memory of the numerous Russian clientele. The spa has gained its reputation, first of all, thanks to rich deposits of sulphuro-ferrous peat-bog and mineral springs used for the treatment of diseases of the heart and vessels, women‘s diseases and diseases of the locomotive system.
