The castle Trosky and bell tower in Rovensko pod Troskami

The ruin of the castle on two bizarre rock columns is the dominant and symbol of Český ráj (the Bohemian Paradise). The castle, founded at the end of the 14th century was burnt down during the Thirty-Years War and remained in ruins. The long ago dilapidated settlement saw its re-discovery in the period of Romanticism during the 19th century. The area of the castle is formed by characteristic towers, called according to their appearance Baba (The Old Woman) (47 m) and Panna (The Virgin) (57 m), remnants of the palace, fortification and the area in front of the castle and the observation point below the tower Panna. In the not far Rovensko pod Troskami there is an interesting wooden bell tower of 1630 with three rebellious bells that are turned the tongue upwards and put into motion by treading.
